Birstall occurs as big village northerly of Leicester in Leicestershire, England.
It lies on the A6 and is a last major cash settlement prior to Leicester whilst running from either the N. A village centre lies upright off a A6, along Sibson Road. There is the supermarket, a garden centre & various more shops. There are various schools, including Riverside Primary School, Stonehill High, & Longslade Community College.
There is a big housing estate to the N-West of the village, towards Beaumont Leys known unofficially as a Gates estate because numerous of the itinerant list prevent in the word 'gate'.
A Grand Union Canal runs through the bottom end of the village, separating it from either Watermead Park, a series of streams, lakes, and wells throughout in the bottom of the Soar Valley, which have been placed aside as a amateur front yard & country park.

History
A title Birstall comes from either a Old English for "old disused fort" - Burhsteall. Saxon remnants have been witnessed in the village & encompassing locality. A village was known as Burstalle in the Domesday Book. a village was a little 1 until the arrival of the Great Central Railway in 1899. From either so forward development has continued & however continues to-day. Between 1901 & a 2001 a people grew from either 611 to above 11,000.
